We're so proud to be partnering with the Agariya community, a tribe that has been working in the salt district of Gujarat, India for generations, to bring you this solar-powered, earth-filtered, and hand-pounded salt. Using solar pumps provided by our local NGO partners, the Agariyas harvest this bright, inland salt from the desert’s underground water table. The salt’s high-mineral content is preserved through a slow-filtration process through the desert soil. In partnership with a local women's self-help group, whose members then hand-pound the salt to the perfect texture for everyday use, we are able to ensure that the salt retains as much flavour as possible. Our salt comes from the famous desert salt pans in the Wild Ass Sanctuary and Little Rann of Kutch in Gujarat. After Gandhi's Dandi Salt March in 1930, Gujarati salt became a symbol of freedom and an act of nonviolent civil disobedience against the British Empire. We like to think of ours as emblematic of sunshine and freedom alike.

Farm Story

Grown in the historic, rain-fed, sugarcane-growing Daund region, our jaggery is grown and processed by Kantilal Randive, a well-known soil health expert. Our sugarcane is intercropped with dhaincha (sesbania bispinosa), chickpeas, and wheat for soil health. Its juice is clarified using traditional methods — incorporating wild okra to remove the impurities — for a clean, nutty jaggery powder! Use the jaggery to sweeten your cups of chai and haldi doodh, and for other drinks, baked goods, and more! Given that jaggery has a high molasses content (AKA the nutritious brown stuff that is usually pulled out of sugar during the refining process), expect a deep, rich flavor that comes in clutch when you're subbing it in for any sugars.

Hella cocoa butter, baby! Made from Anamalai Estate’s award winning cacao beans, this is a beautiful showcase of the potential of Indian cacao. The fact that these beans are grown on a single estate means that you’re tasting a true expression of terroir i.e. the soil they were planted in, and the seasons they grew through. The cacao is intercropped with nutmeg and coconut palms, on land that was originally a eucalyptus grove, then a guava orchard, and now a diverse ecosystem where desi cows roam by day, and elephants scratch their backs on the coconut palms by night! No added sugar. 100% raw cacao powder.

Your rose petals are organically grown by Parvathi Menon and her wonderful team on a 10 acre farm heaving with an abundance of bananas, limes, avocados and rain-fed turmeric in northern Tamil Nadu. After two years of trial and error, Parvathi finally figured out how to grow the Damask Rose (or Panneer Rose in Tamil), that whilst prized for being incredibly fragrant, is also known to be extremely delicate and very high maintenance, especially when grown regeneratively, without pesticides. Since the rose petals need to be processed everyday when they are perfectly in bloom, Parvathi designed an ingenious solar powered dehydration system that is just gentle enough to help the petals retain their deep colouring and lock in their renowned fragrance. We’ve been grinding small batches into our coffee beans, topping our desserts with these bursts of pink, and even steeping them in cream for a little floral joy in our everyday lives.

Grown by our beloved Kasaraneni family amidst marigolds, bananas, and black rice on their 3rd generation farm. Whilst Mr. Prabhu Kasaraneni’s family has been farming for three generations, he is a self-taught organic farmer who began growing heirloom Pragati turmeric in 2015, with assistance from the Indian Institute of Spice Research. This is the spice Sana started the company with! In search of an heirloom turmeric that was regeneratively grown as well as delicious, she was recommended to Mr. Prahbu Kasareneni by the Indian Institute of Spice Research. Prahbu was a young idealistic farmer, and the only one in his area to start growing regeneratively, which initially brought critique from nearby farmers, until they saw how well he was doing. Today, it is still one of our most well-loved spices, and for good reason—it's delicious!

Rotisserie Seasoning is an all-purpose seasoning blen that can take your dishes to the next level with minimal effort. Often associated with rotisserie-style cooking, this seasoning is a versatile addition to your pantry that can enhance the flavor of your meals whether you’re roasting vegetables, preparing grains, or even sprinkling it over snacks. In this blog, we’ll explore the benefits, uses, and environmental impact of Rotisserie Seasoning, providing cooking tips, comparisons, and seasonal ideas.

What is Rotisserie Seasoning?

Rotisserie Seasoning is a flavorful blend of herbs and spices commonly used to season food during the rotisserie cooking process. It’s known for its aromatic and savory profile, often including ingredients like garlic, onion, paprika, thyme, and pepper. While it’s popularly used for rotisserie chicken, it’s equally effective for plant-based dishes, vegetables, and grains.

Common Ingredients:

  • Paprika: Adds smokiness and color.
  • Garlic Powder: Provides depth and richness.
  • Onion Powder: Enhances the savory flavor.
  • Thyme and Oregano: Bring a subtle herbal note.
  • Black Pepper: Adds a mild heat and spice.

Benefits of Rotisserie Seasoning

1. Enhances Flavor with Ease

Rotisserie Seasoning offers a quick and easy way to elevate the taste of any meal. Whether you’re making roasted vegetables or grain bowls, this seasoning brings a harmonious balance of savory and earthy flavors.

2. Versatility

While typically used for rotisserie-style cooking, Rotisserie Seasoning is highly versatile. It can be used to season roasted vegetables, soups, stews, salads, and more, making it a great all-around seasoning for your kitchen.

3. Health Benefits

The herbs and spices in Rotisserie Seasoning, such as garlic and thyme, offer various health benefits. Garlic is known for its immune-boosting properties, while thyme has anti-inflammatory effects and supports digestion.

4. Convenient

Using a pre-mixed seasoning like Rotisserie Seasoning saves time and effort compared to measuring out multiple individual spices. It’s an excellent time-saver for busy cooks.

Uses of Rotisserie Seasoning

1. Roasted Vegetables

Sprinkle Rotisserie Seasoning over vegetables before roasting to infuse them with savory flavors. Root vegetables like potatoes, carrots, and sweet potatoes pair exceptionally well with this seasoning.

2. Grain Bowls

Add a teaspoon of Rotisserie Seasoning to your grain bowls for a burst of flavor. It works wonderfully with quinoa, rice, couscous, and farro, giving them a hearty, savory taste.

3. Soups and Stews

Stir in Rotisserie Seasoning for added depth in soups and stews. Whether you’re making a vegetable soup or a hearty lentil stew, the seasoning provides an extra layer of flavor.

4. Popcorn and Snacks

5. Salads

For a simple yet delicious twist, toss your salads with Rotisserie Seasoning. This works especially well with grain-based salads or roasted veggie salads.

Cooking Tips for Using Rotisserie Seasoning

1. Use Sparingly

While Rotisserie Seasoning is packed with flavor, it’s best to start with a small amount and taste as you go. You can always add more, but it’s difficult to tone down the flavor once it’s added.

2. Pair with Acidity

To balance the savory richness of the seasoning, pair it with an acidic ingredient like lemon juice or vinegar. This creates a well-rounded flavor profile.

3. Combine with Fresh Herbs

Fresh herbs like parsley, cilantro, or basil can complement the flavor of Rotisserie Seasoning. Mixing fresh herbs with the seasoning will give your dish a vibrant, fresh finish.

4. Great for Meal Prep

Rotisserie Seasoning is perfect for meal prep because it enhances the flavor of your meals without requiring a lot of extra effort. Just season your food ahead of time and store it for later.

Comparisons: Rotisserie Seasoning vs. Other Seasonings

1. Rotisserie Seasoning vs. Italian Seasoning

  • Rotisserie Seasoning: Focuses more on savory, earthy flavors with a smoky touch from paprika.
  • Italian Seasoning: A blend of herbs like basil, oregano, and rosemary, typically more herbaceous and slightly floral in flavor.

2. Rotisserie Seasoning vs. Cajun Seasoning

  • Rotisserie Seasoning: A milder, balanced seasoning that works well on a variety of foods.
  • Cajun Seasoning: Spicier with more pronounced heat from cayenne and other chili-based ingredients.

3. Rotisserie Seasoning vs. Taco Seasoning

  • Rotisserie Seasoning: Primarily earthy, smoky, and savory, often used for roasting or grilling.
  • Taco Seasoning: Stronger on cumin and chili powder, typically used for Mexican-inspired dishes.

Seasonal and Holiday Favorites

1. Spring and Summer

During the warmer months, Rotisserie Seasoning is great for seasoning grilled vegetables and summer salads. It adds flavor to lighter dishes, such as roasted corn or grain bowls, that are perfect for outdoor meals.

2. Fall and Winter

In the fall and winter, Rotisserie Seasoning shines in hearty dishes like soups, stews, and roasted root vegetables. It adds warmth and comfort to your meals, perfect for colder weather.

3. Holiday Meals

For holiday meals, sprinkle Rotisserie Seasoning over roasted potatoes, vegetables, or even vegetable roasts. It pairs wonderfully with hearty, comforting dishes that often appear during festive meals.

The Impact of Food Waste on the Environment

How Rotisserie Seasoning Helps Reduce Food Waste:
